Preparing

Books in Preparation

Maybe it’s good… maybe it’s bad, but I have several books in various stages of preparation. Sometimes I think some type of focus-disorder must be present in my brain. A good idea will sneak in, I will get started, life intervenes and that idea goes on the back burner. That process repeats itself, and soon there are multiple books happening at once.

One positive thing about that is whatever mood I’m in, there is usually something to work on. This page gives an overview of the current grouping of books that are anxiously waiting the “publish” button.

7 Ideas that can Destroy America and 1 that can Save Her

7 Ideas to Destroy America, 1 to save Her
Ideas to Discuss

For some time I have been hesitant, even afraid, to write and publish this book. In our culture of political correctness and acceptance of diversity we have equated the expression of opinion on controversial topics with being a hater. Disagreement with another point of view no longer produces dialogue but results in anger or derision.

I know this book will offend various groups of people, even some friends and family. Having weighed the balance between offending others or living with the guilt of silence, I have no option but to get this book out for public analysis.

My optimism gives me hope that we can discard political correctness and engage in open dialogue about crucial issues prevalent in our country today.

Ultimately this book will force us to address the worldview by which we live. Have we chosen a Judeo-Christian worldview entwined with a historical perspective or is our chosen method of living more humanism or naturalism focused?

Our individual actions may not be the actual causes of the downfall of America, but our corporate individualism may be the weakness that allows us to be destroyed by terrorism or an external political or military power.

Smart Golf Today

This book is almost ready to go! It has been so much fun to write, mainly because I know the system we teach to lower your score really works. Plus, much of the “work” was actually done on the golf course with Dan Martin, a PGA professional, and an expert in the mental side of golf.

To give you a sense of what this book contains, I have included a portion of the Introduction to the book below.

Introduction

Reading Smart Golf Today may totally change the way you play golf.

Leaving the 18th green and writing the lowest score you ever shot will generate an almost unbearable enthusiasm to get started on the next round. Rather than look back on bad shots that ruined a round, you may find it a new experience to look back and savor decisions that saved you several strokes.

As you read these chapters, we will show you an assertive system of decision making that will enable your game to flourish and increase the enjoyment of this fine sport. We will help you enter the zone of freedom golf and experience a performance and joy that you have only imagined.

This book is not about theory, but is a nuts-and-bolts approach as we play eighteen holes together. Each hole will discuss mental strategy, learning how to use your mind to create a relaxed spirit that frees up the golf abilities that may have been hidden until now. Playing a links-style course, each hole will address the following.

  • Strategy designed for your game.
  • A specific skill necessary for that hole.
  • Unique application showing how following the rules of golf can improve your game.
  • Mental and physical tips from the pro.
  • A bag full of practice tips that have carry over value on the course.

Golf is an integral part of life, and we will show you how your game will benefit by applying solid life concepts designed to improve your golf game and the joy you get from it. Using the unlimited power of your mind, you will learn how to define your personal game and discover how to maximize the efficiency and enjoyment of the entire experiment.

The Focused Life

The essence of this book is the compilation of a lifetime of discussions occurring in my immediate family and our extended family. The official authors are myself and our son, Greg, although the entire family could be designated as authors.

The philosophical foundation of the book is aptly represented by a quote from Marianne Williamson that begins Chapter 2 of the book.

THE ENERGY OF A HIGHER POWER

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?” Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we’re liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
